Environment and Sustainable Development
The course introduces the students to the concepts and goals of sustainable development. It examines the ecological, economic and social aspects of sustainable development while focusing on fundamental environmental issues including natural resources management, population growth, food production and energy consumption. The course gives an overview on the efforts/practices of international organizations in sustainable development and conservation. It emphasizes the standards and policies for sustainable development, emerging technological applications and their impact. It discusses conflicts resolution practices and the importance of participatory approaches.
